Your donation, large or small, enables RiverQuest to reach people of all ages

in diverse communities with river experiences that transform the way they understand the world around them.

November 2007

RiverQuest has joined forces with 3 Rivers Wet Weather and the Arts Education Collaborative to present River of Words: Art & Science for Our Watershed, a two-day teacher workshop designed by RiverQuest and Carnegie Museum of Art.

Teachers of creative arts, science, and language arts are invited to participate in this workshop integrating environmental science with writing, poetry, and art.  Experience the connections between the processes of science and art and learn about human impacts on our watershed.

The November 15 session is held onboard the RiverQuest vessel Discovery, and the December 5 session is held at Carnegie Museum of Art in Oakland. Completion of the workshop qualifies teachers for 10 Act 48 hours. The $75 fee covers both days of the workshop, all workshop materials, and lunch both days.

RiverQuest Welcomes Jim Roddey

RiverQuest is pleased to welcome Mr. James Roddey as the new President of the Board of Directors.

"RiverQuest offers our region an opportunity to learn and appreciate the importance of clean, potable water, not only for Southwestern Pennsylvania but also for our country and the world," Roddey says. "How fortunate we are to have this unique and wonderful organization here in Pittsburgh." Mr. Roddey is pictured here with recent RiverQuest guest Jean-Michel Cousteau.

Past Board President Howard "Chip" Berger welcomed Jim to the board this past September. "Jim Roddey brings tremendous experience and energy to the presidency of RiverQuest," Berger said. "As we leave our start-up years, new and exciting challenges lay ahead as we further our goals of cutting edge education and technology. Jim's knowledge of organizations, business, finance, and science is the perfect combination to launch RiverQuest's next phase as we expand our scope of services to the Pittsburgh community and beyond. Stay tuned!"
