RiverQuest set to welcome new flagship to Pittsburgh

The staff and board of RiverQuest want to be sure that our friends, clients and supporters are among the first to know this exciting news: Explorer, RiverQuest’s newly constructed 90-foot, 150-passenger hybrid boat left Bayou La Batre, Alabama on Sunday, August 3rd and is expected to arrive into the Pittsburgh Pool of the Ohio River on Wednesday August 13, 2008 after a 1,600 mile journey through nine states.

We expect Explorer to lock through at Emsworth Lock & Dam on the Ohio River at 10:00am, and to reach the downtown Pittsburgh viewing area by 11:00am.  Explorer will be welcomed by a small gathering of private boats and will sail a victory lap on the Allegheny and Monongahela Rivers to celebrate a safe transit.

Please consider  coming out to the riverfront trail near Heinz Field, PNC Park, Carnegie Science Center, Fort Duquesne Boulevard, Station Square, South Side park, or any downtown riverwalk to see Explorer pass through town.  Your waves and cheers will warm our tired crew's hearts!
