Co-Executive Directors

PITTSBURGH, PA - Jim Roddey, President of RiverQuest, an environmental education organization focused on the ecology and environment of the region's rivers, announced today that Jeffrey Jordan and Shayna Pitt have been appointed Co-Executive Directors effective January 1, 2014. Jordan, a professional science educator, has led RiverQuest education programs and operations for the past 10 years. Pitt has served as Director of Development for more than 5 years.

Jordan and Pitt, while assuming their new duties, will continue to be responsible for education/operations and development/administration respectively.

Jeff Jordan studied biology and secondary science education at the University of Pittsburgh. Prior to joining RiverQuest in 2003, Jeff worked for more thank a decade with Carnegie Science Center's education division, where he gained experience in non-profit program development, staff management, and education program delivery. He has experience in formal math and science classroom and laboratory teaching. Jeff manages full and part time education staff, program development, implementation and evaluation, and oversees all parts of RiverQuest’s education programs, including marketing.

Shayna Pitt studied education and psychology at the University of Rhode Island, and holds advanced education degrees from Johns Hopkins University and Southern Connecticut University. In 2005, Pitt served as fundraising counsel to RiverQuest, prior to joining RiverQuest as Director of Development in 2008. Ms. Pitt’s duties at RiverQuest also include marketing and grant administration. Prior to RiverQuest, Ms. Pitt also taught with Balitimore City Schools, worked as a school psychologist in the Branford Connecticut School System, and managed federal, state and local workforce development projects at LifesWork of Western PA .
